Reims and Épernay by rail
The quickest Paris Est–Reims TGV journey currently shown by SNCF Connect is 46 minutes. The Paris–Épernay route starts at 1 hour 19 minutes on the current route page. Both are stations in the destination town; Champagne-Ardenne TGV is outside Reims, 8 km from the city according to Grand Est tourism.
The 24 October 2026 timetable gives a concrete example of the Reims–Épernay corridor: TER 39916 leaves Reims at 09:19, calls at Rilly-la-Montagne, Germaine, Avenay and Aÿ, and reaches Épernay at 09:53. Use live SNCF results for your travel date; that dated train is an example of the route, not a daily timetable.
A station-based tour reaches the vineyards
À la Française’s e-bike day offers pickups at Reims Centre tourist office at 09:00 and Épernay tourist office at 09:35. The operator drives to Le Clos Corbier, supplies the bike and helmet, and returns Reims participants at 16:00 or Épernay participants at 15:15. Those timings belong to this listed tour and its selected departure option.
Sparkling Tour’s half-day small-group visit meets at 1 Cour de la Gare, beside Reims station. It lasts approximately 4 hours, takes up to 8 adults and includes 6 Champagne tastings at 2 family producers. Hautvillers church is included on the afternoon version only. Book the morning or afternoon option that matches the train arrival.

Épernay taxi and bicycle options
The official 2026 Épernay map lists ABC Taxi, Agil Taxi and Épernay Taxi, plus Épernay Bike Hire, De la Selle au Guidon and Faci-e-Bike. For Hautvillers or a grower beyond the town, request the destination address and the return leg from the named supplier; a taxi rank at a main station is different from an available vehicle outside a village cellar.
Reims tourist office lists ZébullO’s electric city bikes, Manu Loca Vélo day hire and Un Vélo pour la Planète guided rides. A city bicycle service is useful for an urban journey but should not be presented as an included transfer to every vineyard estate. On tasting days, use a driver, public transport or a tour that schedules tasting after the cycling.
Base the hotel on the station and actual visits
In Reims, the Continental is at 93 place Drouet-d’Erlon, while Hôtel de la Paix is at 9 rue Buirette. In Épernay, Hôtel Jean Moët is at 7 rue Jean Moët and Le 25bis sits on the Avenue de Champagne. The accommodation directory links property pages and states the specific location reason for each.
For Billecart-Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, a railway arrival at Aÿ does not put you at the visitor entrance at 40 rue Carnot in Mareuil. The house requires an accepted direct visit request. Book the appointment first and then arrange its final transfer; a station name shared with the wider Aÿ-Champagne commune does not prove a walkable station-to-cellar connection.
