The 14 July 2026 public event was cancelled

Épernay’s official notice marks the Soirée blanche du 14-Juillet as cancelled. The notice names three public-domain activities: the concert, picnic and fireworks. The reason given is forecast high temperatures and the protection of participants’ health.

The listed location is Avenue de Champagne, Épernay. This guide records that cancellation; it does not describe the 2026 public festivities as having happened. No 2027 date, programme, ticket price or house-by-house courtyard arrangements were verified in October 2026.

Avenue heritage outside the cancelled programme

The Avenue de Champagne is one of the Épernay elements of Champagne’s 2015 UNESCO listing, alongside Fort Chabrol and the underground cellars. Its named houses include Moët & Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger, de Venoge, Boizel and Mercier. The public street walk is separate from an event programme.

Accommodation and the organiser

Hôtel Jean Moët is at 7 rue Jean Moët, Le 25bis at 25 bis avenue de Champagne and La Villa Eugène at 82–84 avenue de Champagne. These named properties appear in Épernay tourist-office listings; no Soirée blanche room package or July room price was verified.

The city notice provides the Hôtel de Ville contact at 7 bis avenue de Champagne, telephone +33 3 26 53 36 00. For a future edition’s access facilities, road closures or viewing arrangements, use that new city announcement. The cancelled 2026 notice does not establish current facilities for another year.

Rail for an Épernay visit

SNCF Connect advertises direct Paris Est–Épernay journeys from 1 hour 19 minutes in its current route information. An Avenue walk can be planned around an actual train booking, independently of the cancelled event. The rail departure time and house ticket should be selected for the same date, since the cancellation notice supplies no replacement programme.

Book an Épernay visit independently of the cancelled evening

Mercier’s Duo experience is listed at one hour and €30, with Blanc de Noirs and Brut Rosé. Golden Bubbles lasts one hour at €35 and includes Brut, Blanc de Noirs and Rosé. Bubble Talk lasts 90 minutes at €45. The house’s dated reservation calendar supplies the available cellar departures for an independent Épernay visit; the cancelled 14 July event provides no house ticket.

Three avenue-area stays for an independent summer visit

The tourist office lists Hôtel Jean Moët at 7 rue Jean Moët, Le 25bis by Leclerc Briant at 25bis avenue de Champagne and La Villa Eugène at 82–84 avenue de Champagne. Each listed accommodation is a named Épernay property, with its own location and booking result. The property-specific CJ links open the corresponding Booking.com hotel page.

Le 25bis occupies an avenue address associated with Leclerc Briant, while the house’s cellar visits use a different site. A room at the avenue property should therefore not be read as a booked cellar tour. The hotel and visitor appointments have separate calendars, tariffs and confirmations.

For a train arrival, Paris Est–Épernay has a fastest published journey of one hour 19 minutes on SNCF Connect. Some Reims–Épernay TER services also call at Aÿ-Champagne. The dated SNCF result lists that station and its arrival time; the final transfer from Aÿ station to the booked vineyard or producer remains a separate local journey. Buy the dated journey and arrange the onward property transfer separately.

Avenue de Champagne’s heritage beyond one evening

UNESCO inscribed the Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars on 4 July 2015 at its Bonn session. The designated property includes Épernay’s Avenue de Champagne and Fort Chabrol, alongside the historic vineyard hillsides and Reims’s Saint-Nicaise hill. The avenue’s heritage status therefore exists independently of a particular summer entertainment programme.

The inscription recognises the linked production landscape: vineyards, cellars and Champagne houses. A visitor can combine the public avenue with a booked house visit, but UNESCO listing does not create access to a private courtyard or working cellar. Use the named house’s own visitor reservation page for the separate cellar departure; the cancelled Soirée Blanche programme cannot provide an admission.

Book a named lunch experience in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ

Le Clos Corbier offers a tasting class and lunch in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, at 5 boulevard Nicolas-François Billecart. The matching three-hour GetYourGuide product combines six wine tastings, including a three-Champagne blind tasting, with a regional lunch. Its description excludes transport: a reservation there does not include the journey from Épernay.

The UK-facing listing showed a starting price of £80 when checked in October 2026. Enter the actual date and party size to retrieve the current total. This is an independent daytime product, not a revived Soirée Blanche programme; its confirmation supplies the meeting instructions for that reservation.

For an Épernay taxi enquiry, the tourist office lists Épernay Taxi on +33 3 26 59 01 44.

Access and facilities

Mercier’s visitor centre is at 68 avenue de Champagne. Its official visitor information describes 18km of cellars, 30 metres below ground, reached by lift and explored on a train. The Founder experience combines a 45-minute visit with Blanc de Noirs at €25. These are ordinary house visits, not replacements organised by Soirée Blanche.

Mercier offers audioguides in ten spoken languages and French Sign Language on a tablet. Visitors with reduced mobility should contact visitescaves@champagnemercier.com or +33 3 26 51 22 22 before reserving. Lift access and an underground train do not by themselves establish that every part of a particular reserved visit meets an individual access requirement.

Mercier’s visitor centre is at 68 avenue de Champagne and uses its own booking page. Pol Roger at 34 avenue de Champagne is not open to public visits. A future Soirée blanche announcement would not change those house-specific booking positions without a corresponding official notice.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
