History
Charles Gonet settled in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger after marrying into an Oger family. His son Jacques and Jacques’s wife Micheline added land at Montgueux in 1958. That Aube connection survives in the name of a pure-Chardonnay cuvée dedicated to their generation.
Vincent Gonet and Davy Sulcova established Gonet-Sulcova in 1985 and settled in Épernay. Davy designed the bottles for the launch. Their children later joined the enterprise: the producer’s chronology gives 1997 for Karla and 2003 for Yan-Alexandre.
The producer describes twenty hectares, divided between eighty percent Chardonnay and twenty percent Pinot Noir. Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger provide Grand Cru origins in the Côte des Blancs; Montgueux and Loches-sur-Ource supply Aube holdings. The current Blanc de Blancs combines Chardonnay from Montgueux and Le Mesnil, making the family’s two principal Chardonnay regions explicit in a single wine.
Gaïa Grand Cru Chardonnay comes from Les Chétillons in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and is vinified in oak. The Grand Cru vintage selection is also associated with Le Mesnil, while the Montgueux cuvée preserves the name of the land acquired by Jacques and Micheline. Sladká, the Demi-Sec Chardonnay, carries a Czech word meaning sweet, another distinct reference in the Gonet-Sulcova catalogue.
A two-hour appointment on rue Henri Martin
The official contact page separates bottle sales from a cellar visit. Direct weekday sales are available without an appointment, Monday–Friday 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:00; weekend sales require an appointment. The cellar-and-tasting experience always needs a reservation by telephone or email, including on weekdays.
Allow about two hours for the visit and tasting, as specified by Gonet-Sulcova. Contact +33 3 26 54 37 63 or gonet-sulcova@wanadoo.fr via the official contact page. The house does not publish a current ticket price or a fixed list of poured cuvées there. Those details are part of the appointment reply, so no invented entry tariff or “three wines” promise is attached to it.

Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Aube
The producer’s vineyard account gives 20 hectares, planted 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir, across Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Grand Cru, Oger Grand Cru, Montgueux and Loches-sur-Ource. Épernay’s tourist office repeats those proportions and locations. Some wine-guide profiles give different area totals, so 20 hectares is attributed to the producer’s own description.
Blanc de Blancs and the Montgueux cuvée
Gonet-Sulcova’s Blanc de Blancs Brut blends Chardonnay from Montgueux and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It is the regional comparison in one bottle: the Aube hillside and the Côte des Blancs Grand Cru. The current official catalogue lists it in both 37.5 cl half-bottles and 75 cl bottles.
Cuvée Montgueux is instead entirely Chardonnay from Montgueux, which the producer places 9 km from Troyes. Its technical account describes hand harvesting, separate vinification of plots in a temperature-controlled vat room and malolactic fermentation after alcoholic fermentation. The house gives about 9°C as its suggested serving temperature. Those production details apply to Cuvée Montgueux, not automatically to the entire range.
The Montgueux technical record
The detailed Montgueux sheet describes at least half a hectare dedicated to this cuvée annually, vines averaging 30 years old, and a single-year blend released after three years of ageing. It identifies a 1.3 km chalk-cellar network 12 metres underground. These cellar figures come from that wine’s production sheet; they are not a measured length of the visitor walk at 13 rue Henri Martin.
The same sheet gives batch references beginning L0215 and older technical production figures. Those batch-specific details are not presented as a current annual output for the whole house. For an appointment in Épernay, the useful published duration is the two hours on the contact page.
Grand Cru, Gaïa and the vintage wines
Grand Cru Extra Brut is described by the producer as non-dosé, with no finishing liqueur added, from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Its food recommendation is seafood. The cuvée’s commercial name therefore needs to be read alongside the producer’s specific no-added-dosage description.
Gaïa Grand Cru Chardonnay comes from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger’s Chétillons terroir and is vinified slowly in oak barrels. The vintage Grand Cru Brut also uses Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger; the official page currently lists 2015 in 75 cl bottles and 2006 in magnums. The house’s range also includes Sladka Demi-Sec, a 100% Chardonnay wine whose Czech name refers to sweetness.
Bottle prices are separate from a visit fee
The official catalogue’s ex-cellar French bottle prices include Brut Réserve €24, Blanc de Blancs €29.50, Montgueux €30, Grand Cru Extra Brut €36 and Grand Cru Vintage 2015 €40 (checked October 2026). Gaïa is listed at €59 for 75 cl. These are retail bottle prices, not tour tariffs or the value of the wines poured on an appointment.
The Épernay town guide links Gonet-Sulcova with the other off-Avenue houses. Use the accommodation directory for named central stays and Booking.com links. A visit request should specify rue Henri Martin and the required language; a purchase enquiry can use the separate weekday direct-sales arrangements above.
Access and facilities
The tourist-office listing identifies the business as Récoltant-Manipulant, lists English and French, and records parking and an electric-vehicle charging point. These reception facilities do not establish the accessibility of the underground cellar route. The address is an Épernay town appointment; the Montgueux name on a bottle does not move its reception to Troyes.
Gonet-Sulcova receives cellar visits and tastings by appointment at 13 rue Henri Martin in Épernay. Its own contact page asks visitors to allow about two hours and accepts appointments on weekdays and weekends. The house combines Côte des Blancs Chardonnay with vineyards around Montgueux and Loches-sur-Ource in the Aube.
