The 2026 Route: 1–2 August on the Aube’s right bank

Aube tourism establishs 1–2 August 2026 for Route du Champagne en Fête on the Rive Droite de l’Aube. That edition is now past. The organiser rotates the event between villages or sectors of the Côte des Bar, so the 2026 location is not a announced route for 2027.

The event was imagined by winegrowers in 1995, according to its organiser, Association Cap’C. Its published format opens participating cellars for a weekend of producer encounters and tastings. Cap’C describes itself as a non-profit volunteer association promoting the Champagne vineyard and its heritage.

What the 2026 pass actually bought

For 2026 the organiser introduced a compulsory entry wristband for adult cellar access. The online tasting pass cost €45 and included the dated flute, flute holder, tasting booklet with 22 tastings and a wristband valid for both days. The stated tasting period was 10:00–18:00. These are historical 2026 terms, checked October 2026.

The published on-site pass price was €50, subject to availability, with 9,000 tasting passes in total. A €15 companion wristband included cellar entry, a generic flute and holder but no tastings. Minors were exempt from the wristband requirement. No 2027 pass price is inferred from these figures.

Transport and an overnight base

The organiser provides separate pages for arriving, parking, circulation between villages, sleeping and eating. Use the edition’s own village map when choosing accommodation: a Côte des Bar label alone does not identify the participating sector. No verified 2027 shuttle timetable or driver package is available here.

Access and cellar conditions

Never drink and drive between Côte des Bar cellars. The edition’s circulation page identifies the actual transport arrangements; the historical tasting pass does not itself promise an included taxi. Our Côte des Bar guide separates ordinary producer appointments from this rotating festival.

The 2026 shuttle and pass arrangements

The organiser priced its return shuttle at €18 per person per day, booked online, with passengers asked to arrive 15 minutes before departure. The Troyes service left boulevard Delestraint, beside the Cube car park, at 09:00 and reached Bar-sur-Aube at 10:00; its 20:00 return left Champagne Cottanceau-Prignitz and reached Troyes at 21:00.

A separate service left Chaumont railway station at 10:00 for Colombey-les-Deux-Églises at 10:30. The return left the roundabout by Champagne Christian Peligri at 19:30 and reached Chaumont at 20:00. Free inter-village shuttles operated from 10:00 to 19:00. These are the completed 2026 arrangements, not a 2027 transport promise.

Three different Côte des Bar overnight addresses

Le Moulin du Landion is at 5 rue Saint-Léger in Dolancourt; the Côte des Bar tourist office lists 20 rooms. Le Marius stands at 2 place de l’Église in Les Riceys, while Le Saint Nicolas is at 2 rue Général de Gaulle in Bar-sur-Aube. The three properties belong to different communes, so only the Bar-sur-Aube address places the stay in one of the organiser’s named 2026 festival towns.

For Bar-sur-Aube, the return Troyes shuttle used Champagne Cottanceau-Prignitz as its evening departure point. A Dolancourt or Les Riceys hotel does not form part of that published shuttle journey. Give a taxi operator both the accommodation address and the exact festival village, particularly when reserving the return after the final tasting.

The official event’s ten-village list includes Argentolles, Arrentières, Bar-sur-Aube, Colombé-la-Fosse, Colombé-le-Sec, Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, Rizaucourt-Buchey, Rouvres-les-Vignes, Saulcy and Voigny. They formed the completed 2026 circuit; Les Riceys and Dolancourt should not be added to that list merely because they are Côte des Bar accommodation bases.

Road arrival and the overnight choice

The organiser’s practical information identifies A5 exit 23, Ville-sous-la-Ferté, as an approach to the circuit. From Reims it describes the A26 followed by the A5. These are route directions rather than a verified driving-time estimate, and no motorway-toll figure is quoted here.

The designated festival bivouacs were free and did not require booking. They provided dry toilets and a washing point, with no shower or electricity; cars had a separate parking area and barbecues were prohibited. A hotel booking in Bar-sur-Aube offers a different overnight arrangement from those basic festival facilities.

For the completed 2026 circuit, the companion pass cost €15 while the tasting pass cost €45 online or €50 on site. Check the specific pass type before purchase on a future edition’s booking page. The named village circuit and the published shuttle stops are more precise planning tools than an accommodation search for the whole Champagne region.

Access and facilities

Cap’C’s practical-information and contact pages are the official routes for the selected edition’s accessible parking and cellar access. Each participating cellar has its own entrance; the wristband does not establish step-free access to all 22 tastings. An accessible-vehicle or companion requirement should be addressed to the organiser before purchase.

Passes required collection in person: the organiser did not post them. Advance collection points included the tourist offices in Bar-sur-Seine, Bar-sur-Aube, Chaumont and Troyes. Event-day collection included Cottanceau-Prignitz in Bar-sur-Aube and Christian Peligri et Filles in Colombey. The practical page also identified reduced-mobility parking on its maps and designated camping areas without showers or electricity.

For a wider Aube stay, Troyes has La Maison de Rhodes at 18 rue Linard Gonthier, Le Champ des Oiseaux at 20 rue Linard Gonthier and Hôtel de la Poste at 35 rue Émile Zola. Those are named Troyes bases, not claims that they are the nearest rooms to every festival village. The current edition’s route determines the useful overnight location.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
