Before you go

Start a Champagne budget with the appointments you actually want. A cellar ticket, a hotel room and a train reservation are separate purchases, and the lowest advertised price can have conditions. Chassenay d’Arce’s €10 (about £9) cellar visit is for groups of 4–15, with stated Monday–Saturday appointments at 10:00 or 14:00 (checked October 2026). A couple should price a suitable bookable format for two.

The examples below separate published visit and menu prices from accommodation, transport and other spending. They use the site’s fixed planning rate of 0.85 pounds per euro, with displayed estimates rounded to whole pounds. Payment in euros, card-provider charges and the exchange rate on your travel date can produce a different sterling bill. Use the euro figure when comparing the provider’s ticket with this guide.

House visit prices

These ten examples come from the same records as the house directory and house-page slates. They show the lowest evidenced adult experience for that house, with the programme’s own duration. A tower visit, a cellar tour and a tasting can be different products. Read the named offer before treating two prices as equivalent.

Mercier’s entry format starts at €25 (about £21), Pommery at €30 (about £26), Taittinger at €40 (about £34), Moët & Chandon at €48 (about £41) and Ruinart at €90 (about £77) (all checked October 2026). These examples make a useful first comparison. Other programmes can cost more, and the house guide identifies the experience behind each figure. The number of wines, a private format or a particular cuvée can change the price.

A group organiser needs both the ticket price and the admissible party size. An advertised small-group tariff may require several people; an appointment can also depend on the language or the producer’s working day. Follow the official booking link, select the right category and keep the confirmation. Compare the Reims visits and Épernay visits before adding travel between them.

Getting there: train or car

For a train journey from Britain, price Eurostar and the onward Champagne train together as a complete plan. Eurostar advertises London–Paris from £39 per person one way in Standard, based on a mandatory return trip (checked October 2026). Two available £39 legs would make £78 return before the onward train. The departures available for your weekend determine the actual cost.

Paris Est–Reims is advertised from 46 minutes, and Reims–Épernay from 23 minutes. Those are fastest journey examples, with waiting, connections and travel to the house additional. No current route-specific SNCF starting fare was verified for this budget. Enter the dates in SNCF Connect and compare the station shown on the ticket with the Reims station guide.

By car, add your Channel crossing, tolls, fuel, parking and any local transport used on tasting days. LeShuttle’s Calais–Reims guide gives about €23 (about £20) in A26 tolls for the quoted journey (checked October 2026). Vehicle class and your chosen route matter. Fuel depends on your vehicle, distance and filling price; this guide leaves that calculation to your actual car. The Calais driving guide covers the route and parking.

Where to stay: compare the complete room offer

Room price bands have been left out because a reproducible, dated sample of Booking.com rates was not collected. Compare the same dates, party, room type and cancellation terms across the named accommodation rows. A headline rate becomes useful when you know whether it covers the room configuration you need and which extras remain payable.

Reims centre, the station approaches, the Avenue de Champagne and the villages offer different routes to your appointments. Add parking, breakfast and local transfers where relevant. A lower room price outside your walking route can bring another transport purchase. For a celebration, put the special hotel or tasting into the plan first, then allocate the remaining budget around it.

Record the cancellation deadline and payment currency beside each shortlisted room. Comparing a cancellable offer with a prepaid offer needs that distinction on the page. Open a dated search, then use the provider’s room details to settle occupancy and conditions. Find hotels in Reims and Find hotels in Épernay are starting points; the hub shortlists identify specific properties.

Tours with lunch and drivers

À la Française currently publishes an e-bike Champagne day with lunch from €175 (about £149), an afternoon Hautvillers and family-grower tour from €115 (about £98), a full day with Mumm, growers and lunch from €230 (about £196), and a shorter grower day with traditional lunch from €195 (about £166) (checked October 2026). These are four distinct programmes. The full Mumm day and the shorter grower day have different inclusions and durations.

Read the meeting point, transport, lunch and tasting list together. A tour can replace several separate reservations, while a house ticket usually covers that house’s named experience. Use the tour listings to compare like programmes and the operator’s public page for its current advertised products. Date-specific marketplace prices can differ from the operator’s published starting figure.

For a private driver or private itinerary, request a quote for the actual party and route. Establish the pickup, finish time, vehicle and visit inclusions before dividing the quote between friends. No general private-driver price has been verified here. A shared group price also needs the provider’s capacity and meeting-point rules; a private booking is a separate offer.

Eating out: named menu examples

Use published menus as concrete examples, rather than treating them as a regional average. La Grillade Gourmande in Épernay lists menus at €42 (about £36) and €69 (about £59); Le Continental in Reims lists weekend menus at €55 (about £47) and €90 (about £77) (checked October 2026). The restaurant’s chosen service, menu and drink inclusions determine the final bill. These examples are not a guarantee of a weekday lunch formula.

The Épernay food guide and Reims food guide link the named restaurants and describe their locations. Place the meal between appointments with enough time to order and finish. For a group, ask about a shared menu, the number of diners and the reservation terms before collecting everyone’s contribution.

Budget breakfast, other meals, drinks and anything bought for home separately. A tasting ticket’s wine selection does not set the cost of the bottles in the shop. Agree a bottle-buying limit before browsing and leave room for packaging or luggage decisions. The receipt, allowance and transport arrangements belong in the return-trip plan as well.

Three sample weekend budgets

Each illustration below is for two adults. The totals cover only the named visits and one named menu per person, at prices checked October 2026. Rooms, international and local travel, other meals, drinks and purchases remain additional. Add live quotes to the blank categories before committing to the trip.

Thrifty: an Épernay base

  1. Friday: arrive, reach the booked room and choose a separate evening-meal budget.
  2. Saturday: book Mercier’s entry visit at €25 (about £21) per adult, then a €42 (about £36) menu at La Grillade Gourmande (checked October 2026). Use public-street walking time for the Avenue between reservations.
  3. Sunday: allow for breakfast, the station or car park and the journey home.

The selected visit and menu come to €67 (about £57) per adult, or €134 (about £114) for two (calculated from prices checked October 2026). Put the actual room and transport quotes beside that subtotal. Find hotels in Épernay. The three-day itinerary helps compare a single base with a two-town plan.

Comfortable: a Reims base

  1. Friday: arrive and settle the room, parking or station transfer.
  2. Saturday: Taittinger from €40 (about £34) per adult and Le Continental’s €55 (about £47) weekend menu (checked October 2026).
  3. Sunday: Pommery from €30 (about £26) per adult, timed to leave room for the return journey (checked October 2026).

Those named components total €125 (about £106) per adult, or €250 (about £213) for two (calculated from prices checked October 2026). Add the remaining purchases individually. Find hotels in Reims. The Reims weekend gives a practical order for a city-based break.

Celebration: make the principal booking first

  1. Friday: reach the selected hotel and keep the evening flexible around arrival.
  2. Saturday: Ruinart from €90 (about £77) per adult and Le Continental’s €90 (about £77) weekend menu (checked October 2026).
  3. Sunday: Taittinger from €40 (about £34) per adult if its available time fits the journey home (checked October 2026).

The selected visit and menu costs total €220 (about £187) per adult, or €440 (about £374) for two (calculated from prices checked October 2026). A château room, private transfer and additional bottles need their own quotes. Find hotels in Reims. Use the celebration itinerary to compare the special options without treating them as included in this subtotal.

Ways to save

Choose a base that reduces paid transfers, then reserve the main visit before adding another town. Compare the euro ticket for the experience you want with the actual named alternative. A short tasting and a long cellar tour offer different uses of your time; the lowest figure alone cannot describe the day.

Mark the charging unit beside every quote: per adult, per room, per car or per group. Two adults need two adult tickets, while a shared room or a single vehicle crossing is counted once for that party. A published menu is per diner unless its own terms say otherwise. Keep the amount already paid and the amount still due in separate columns. That makes it easier to see how much money remains available for the rest of the weekend and helps a group organiser avoid collecting the same shared cost twice.

Keep a simple worksheet: visit, date, party size, ticket category, total euros, room offer, transport quote and cancellation deadline. Divide genuinely shared costs by the people paying them. Child categories, a non-drinking visitor’s option or a group tariff depend on the published programme. Ask the provider about the relevant format before assuming a reduction.

FAQ

Can I book the €10 (about £9) visit as a couple?

Chassenay d’Arce publishes that cellar-tour tariff for groups of 4–15, with the stated appointment conditions (checked October 2026). Arrange a qualifying group or choose a published format appropriate to two people. Use the house’s booking page for availability.

What is included in the sample budgets?

Only the named adult visits and one named menu for each person. Accommodation, travel, other meals, drinks and purchases are additional. The examples show how to assemble a budget with verified components; complete it with your own dated room and transport quotes.

Is Reims cheaper than Épernay?

No comparable room-rate sample was verified for that claim. Compare the named visits, the room offer for your dates and the transfers needed from each base. A city-centre room and a village room can require different additional journeys.

Are tours better value than separate visits?

Compare the named inclusions. A tour may bundle transport, lunch and several visits; separate house tickets need a transport and meal plan alongside them. Match the departure town, duration and party format before comparing the total.

Which sterling rate does this guide use?

Approximate euro conversions use the single fixed planning rate of 0.85 pounds per euro, with estimates rounded to whole pounds. The euro charge remains the reference price. Your payment provider and the exchange rate when you pay determine the eventual sterling cost.
